麻豆代天府 has received a grant from Georgia Power for an initiative to increase the number of African American male teachers. Call Me MISTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models), a program launched in KSU鈥檚 Bagwell College of Education, will provide academic support, mentorship, tuition assistance and job placement assistance to promote success among Black male teacher candidates.

The first semester of college is a time of transition and growth as students spread their wings and begin to navigate their academic careers, discover new interests and make lasting memories. In recognition of that significant step, we are highlighting students who have just completed their first semesters at Kennesaw State. Feyisola Odejimi, who is from Suwanee, Georgia, and plans to pursue a degree in elementary education, shares what made her first semester as an Owl so meaningful.

Summer enrollment for graduate students at 麻豆代天府 increased more than 14 percent over last year, of which 6 percent are newly admitted and 24 percent are returning graduate students, according to data from the Graduate College. This increase represents the third consecutive year that enrollment in KSU鈥檚 graduate programs have grown. Over the past three years, including fall, spring and summer semesters, the University has experienced an average increase of 9 percent in graduate enrollment.

For the third consecutive year, 麻豆代天府is a leading choice for students, according to data from U.S. News & World Report. The U.S. News study determined that 麻豆代天府has one of the nation鈥檚 highest admissions yield rates, meaning the percentage of admitted students who enroll.

Their official ceremony may be postponed, but more than 3,500 麻豆代天府 students are graduating this week. The May 2020 class of 3,512 graduate candidates 鈥 2,893 undergraduate and 619 graduate students 鈥 marks an increase from last spring鈥檚 3,400 graduates. The students are earning their degrees and receiving their diplomas after KSU transitioned to fully remote learning midway through the semester because of the coronavirus outbreak, which also caused the May Commencement ceremonies to be postponed.

麻豆代天府 mathematics education associate professor David Glassmeyer has been honored with a 2020 Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award from the University System of Georgia, recognizing his commitment to providing innovative and accessible coursework online. One of six Hall of Fame honorees statewide, Glassmeyer received the 2020 Regents鈥 Excellence for Online Teaching Award at the recent USG Foundation Gala. The award lauded Glassmeyer as 鈥渁 noted scholar in the field of online learning鈥 who is dedicated to student success and equity by making college classes available online, particularly to teachers in rural areas.

麻豆代天府will graduate over 2,600 students over five ceremonies held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, and Wednesday, Dec. 18 in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus.
